Being Christian

Believing in God does not make you a Christian. Going to church does not make you a Christian. Knowing every word in the Bible doesn’t even make you a Christian. After all even the devil is an angel.

So what makes a Christian you ask. The word Christian literally means to be Christ like. Well what does that actually mean? Jesus put it very simply, love God with all your heart and soul, and love your neighbor as yourself. The rest will just fall into place.

Now I know that we all fail daily at these, though simple as they are. But it’s not about perfection, only Jesus was perfect, but he set an amazing example for us to follow. Jesus spent his ministry serving others and showing mercy. So what is it to be Christ like then? I would say it is to daily make the conscious decision to follow the example Christ set before us. To love God with all our might. To love our fellow man, and do more for others than we do for ourselves. Let the Lord be seen through you and all you do, that is what it is to be a Christian.
